NSA to spur Sentry Gateway contractor park

Sentry Gateway

Sentry Gateway

Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT) is nearing completion on the redevelopment and expansion of the two buildings which previously served as the former Sony Electronics plant (475,000 sf) at Loop 410 & W. Military Dr.  Upon completion, the high-security facility will accommodate the National Security Agency (NSA)

Also located within the fenced campus, COPT is developing two additional 125,000 square-foot buildings presumed to serve the purposes of the NSA’s Texas Cryptology Center – most likely as data centers.  In the end, the NSA facility is expected to employ as many as 3,000.

To complement the NSA facility, COPT plans to develop an office park called Sentry Gateway on 126 acres of adjacent land.  The project, which is expected to accommodate NSA contractors, could span as much as 900,000 square feet upon total build-out and have capacity for as many as 4,000 employees.  The first phase calls for a three-story office building totaling 90,000 square feet.  Construction is expected to start in the first quarter of 2010 and could be completed before the end of 2010.
