Banking landscape to see major change in July

wells-fargo-atmIn the wake of the Wells Fargo – Wachovia merger officially signed in December of 2008, it was recently announced that 55 Wachovia and 24 Wells Fargo locations across Texas will be consolidated while 161 Wachovia branches will be rebranded with the Wells Fargo name.

The company said it does not plan to cut jobs but the banking landscape will change when the integration is completed later this summer. Until then, branches will operate as normal.

In the San Antonio area, the conversion will mean a net gain of 16 locations for Wells Fargo but six locations will close including one in Boerne.  For a list of specific San Antonio locations that will be closed, read Wachovia branches slated to close (MySA.com, 1-27-09).
