Impact of Toyota’s suspended production

It is too early to know the full impact of Toyota’s recent announcement to suspend production at five North American plants.  Toyota, the world’s largest automaker, needs time to assess and coordinate activities related to the recall of eight vehicle models due to accelerator pedals that stick.

At this point, we know that the San Antonio plant will halt production for at least a week starting February 1st but it is not yet known exactly how long the pause will last or how the local industrial market may be impacted.  Public tours of the facility will also be suspended.

For more information, read Latest news about Toyota’s safety recall campaign released by the Toyota Newsroom.  Read more in Toyota’s S.A. plant to halt production (MySA.com, 1-26-10) or watch the Kens5 news cast Toyota announces recall, halts Tundra production (1-26-10).
